We are allowing anonymous Letters to the Editor because we understand your position and have experienced USTA backlash to dissenting voices ourselves. Please be aware whenever a letter is signed with The Commish it's always a tennis director, a teaching professional, a vendor or a USTA insider who is in fear of retribution. Thank you. We look forward to the day when everyone can voice their opinion freely and without fear.
USTA, PTR, USPTA
October 24, 2023

Hi Rich!
I think teaching pros have membership fatigue from dealing with the USPTA and PTR and the dues and BS and they get nothing in return. (The last part is not totally true, but it feels that way).

Hi Rich!
This is embarrassing.
Jason Gilbert is employed by USTA Florida and was recently named to the USPTA board and his employer trashes the USPTA and PTR because they are in a fight with the USTA and can't certify pros.

Hi Rich!
The USPTA find-a-pro recently reappeared. It was supposed removed and redone. I always viewed it as a great promotion and networking tool. Evidently, some members felt it was an invasion of their privacy and didn't want their "information" put in public. The find-a-pro is accessible to members only.

Hi Rich!
Who needs the USPTA or PTR when you have the USTA advertising the years a person has taught on their App. WoW!

If the USTA wants to be in charge of the coaches, why don't they just take them over?

Hi Rich!
USPTA dues notice came 1-2 weeks earlier than in previous years.
It does not mention that Safe Sport is required. That is probably an oversight. The USPTA is notorious for errors in its email communications.
Today I received a lengthy robo-call from USPTA reminding me that the last date I can pay my dues is December 31. Today is only November 15.
Is there a cash flow problem with the reduced membership and lower attendance at the annual conference?

ONE-QUESTION SURVEY FOR NOVEMBER 2023
QUESTION
TCB Survey November 2023 - Now that the USTA is taking Pickleball under their wings, should they change their name?

COMMENTS
-
USTA Board, "F__K tennis, we want more money & power"
-
Let's be honest here, the USTA is taking Pickleball "under their wing" because of the money....The two sports have little in common. Pickleball has more in common with ping pong than tennis. Yes, skill is involved in PB but not athleticism. So let's call the USTA out and have them change their name so consumers know what the organization is really about!
-
USTA, we ruin everything, not just tennis…
-
I think they should consider it or create a totally separate division under USTA that is dedicated specifically toward pickleball.
-
Probably need to change the name, and the mission statement. How about United States Racquet Sports Association? USTA ... RIP. I guess that would mean the end of the PB governing body, and they can move their operations to the empty space on the 2nd floor at The Campus.
-
Hell No!
-
USPTA would look like a parent/teacher association, LOL
-
then, fold.
-
They should not take pickleball on.
-
Their name is irrelevant. Changing their name won't change how incompetent they are.
-
Tennikle, or Tenpickles, or Picknis,

Pickleball will not have the staying power of tennis in 10 years. Tennis is the flagship of racket sports but pickleball is a great auxiliary addition.

USTSRBPRPA-Tennis, Squash, Racketball, Badminton, Padel, Real Tennis, and Pickleball Association
-
The UTBTA (The Used To Be Tennis Association)
-
The USTA should keep its name. Eventually, the Pickleball sector will realize the USTA is disorganized and self-absorbed then part ways with the USTA. By keeping the name USTA, this will reduce costs and confusion when this occurs.
-
I don't believe they are taking Pickleball under their wings!
-
I believe the name should change to US Racquet Sports Association (USRSA). That way the governing body could expand into all Racquet Sports organizations-including Squash, Platform Tennis, Picl;eball, Racquet Ball, andTable Tennis.
-
United States Pickleball & SOME Tennis Association
-
Glad they are embracing it as usta players are asking for pickleball leagues and programs.
-
Arrogant Dumb Asses of the World (ADAW)
-
Pickleball is doing just fine without USTA trying to get in the middle of things and screwing it up.
-
the good news for tennis fans, USTA was so good at killing tennis, maybe they'll likely find a way to kill pickleball on accident, bringing back tennis. How soon until the USTPBA needs to adopt padel, chess, and the WNBA in order to keep the same numbers?
